Dale McDorman
Chief Deputy
As the Chief Deputy, Dale McDorman brings 45 years of law enforcement experience to the Sheriff’s Office. Chief McDorman is a native to the area and a Class of 79’ graduate of Lakeview High School. Upon graduating, he went on to join the United States Air Force where he assigned to the position of Security Policeman for 8 years. During that time, he gained valuable investigative experience in addition to performing patrol duties in the field. Later in his career, after garnering years of field experience, he went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Columbia College.
Upon leaving the Air Force, Chief McDorman was hired as a Deputy at the Stark County Sheriff’s Office in 1987. He then moved to Beaufort, S.C. in 1990 where he worked as a Deputy Sheriff until 1995 when he was hired by the Beaufort S.C. Police Department. For the next 15 years he worked in Patrol, K-9, Investigations lieutenant, and operations lieutenant. prior to being promoted to Deputy Chief of Police in 2010.
After serving as the Deputy Chief for 10 years, Chief McDorman was then appointed to Chief of Beaufort Police Department in 2020 where he served until his retirement in January of 2024. Chief McDorman returned home to Ohio and quickly came out of retirement in February to accept a position as the Chief of Police in Minerva, Ohio before being asked by Mike Wilson to join the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Department.
