Trumbull County Sheriff Visitation

General Visitation Guidelines...

  1. The jail is a correctional facility and all visitors and their belongings are subject to search. Anyone who will not consent to being searched will be denied visit.

  2. All inmates must have completed at least five (5) days inside the facility before they are entitled to a visit.

  3. Any inmate on disciplinary lockdown that is considered to be a threat to jail security will not be eligible for visit.

  4. It is the responsibility of the inmates to have their visitors placed on their visitation list and to verify their visitors are on the list prior to visitation.

  5. Visitors must have their names added to the inmate’s visitation list at least twenty-four (24) hours prior to the visitation time. Last minute additions will not occur.

  6. Cell phones, smart watches, or any other electronic device capable or sending or receiving communication is strictly prohibited inside the visitation room. Anyone caught with such a device will receive a thirty (30) visiting day suspension unless prior suspensions have been issued. The duration of any and all suspensions will be determined by the jail administrator.

  7. Visitation is one-half (1/2) hour and scheduled by the inmate’s pod assignment. Inmates may participate in visitation only (1) one time per week.

  8. Visitation may be cancelled for any reason due to security concern or at the direction of the jail administrator.

  9. Visitors are required to be in line at least fifteen (15) minutes prior to the visitation time. Space is limited and on a first come first served basis.

  10. All visitors must have a valid government issued ID. Acceptable forms of ID are:

  11. a. State Issued Driver’s License
    b. State Issued Identification Card
    c. United States Passport
    d. United States Military ID Card
    e. Foreign Passport will be accepted if it contains a valid stamp from a US Port of Entry.
    i. No other forms of ID will be accepted

  12. Only valid ID’s will be accepted. Expired or suspended licenses will not be accepted. (Suspended Driver’s Licenses are property of the state and will be seized and returned to the BMV.)

  13. Only three visitors will be permitted to register for a single inmate’s visit.

  14. No one under eighteen (18) years of age will be permitted to visit.

  15. Anyone not visiting or not conducting business inside the jail will not be permitted to remain in the lobby during visitation times.

  16. No food or drinks will be permitted inside the lobby.

  17. Anyone who is not approved for visitation who is caught making contact with an inmate will be suspended from visit for a period to be determined by the jail administrator. Anyone attempting to contact an inmate through the outside windows of the facility will lose the privilege of visitation.

  18. The Trumbull County Adult Justice Center will consider special visits under unusual or unique circumstances, to be approved by the Jail Administrator.

Visitor Requirements

All visitors will be subject to the following requirements and restrictions and may be denied their visitation for any of the following:

  1. The visitor fails to submit to a search of their person or property.

  2. The visitor is a victim to a crime the inmate is currently charged with.

  3. The visitor is under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

  4. The visitor emits a detectable odor of raw or burned marijuana.

  5. The visitor has a history of disruptive behavior or a history of failing to follow jail rules.

  6. The visitor refuses to show proper ID or fails to follow posted conditions.

  7. The inmate refuses the visit.

  8. The visitor has an active protection order against them or is currently restricted by a court from having contact with the inmate.

  9. The visitor has an active warrant outside of the pickup radius.

  10. The visitor refuses to follow any order given by a member of the Sheriff’s Office.

  11. The visitor fails to conform to the dress code.

Visitor Dress Code

Proper dress by visitors is required at all times while inside the visitation room.

  1. Appropriate undergarments must be worn (i.e., bra, slip, and underwear.)

  2. No see-through clothing of any kind.

  3. No clothing that exposes the midriff, have open backs, or open sides.

  4. Low cut clothing that exposes the chest.

  5. No clothing may be worn in a manner that exposes any undergarments.

  6. Skirts, dresses, shorts, or any other clothing with a hem or slit must fall below the mid-thigh.

  7. No inappropriate clothing with obscene and/or offensive pictures, slogans, language, and/or gestures.

  8. Form-fitted clothing made from spandex or Lycra or other similar knit material such as leotards, unitards or bicycle shorts that are deemed inappropriate or revealing must be approved by the shift commander.

  9. Hats or any other headwear will not be worn inside the visitation room. (Unless for a designated religious purpose.)


Visitation Schedule

Effective date August 12, 2019

* * Visitors must arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of each scheduled visitation time.
* * Do not wait for the last visitation time only twelve inmates can use visitation at one time.
* * No additional times will be added.
* * Cell phone use is strictly prohibited by visitors.
* * It is your responsibility to notify your visitors of any changes.
